• Don’t select someone who is still living.
• Double check that the woman you selected received little or no recognition for her contributions while alive.
• Limit any comments about women not getting recognition they deserved to get.
• Consider all fields that use STEM including health care, behavioral sciences, and social sciences.
• Be sure your essay covers all three components requested: contribution, impact, and why you selected. All three are important.
• Find good sources other than Wikipedia.
• Review and check factual information.
• Be sure to follow the MLA style for citing references.
• Use spell check.
• Check formatting of final essay – spacing, paragraphs, etc.
